There and Back Again [Day 30 – 30 Days to Creating Irresistible Presence]

Here we are – it is DAY 30 of 30 Days to Creating Irresistible Presence!  On Wednesday, my BFFs Allison Nazarian & ElizabethPW explain – well alot of things, but most importantly the secret to irresistible friendship.  And lucky you – today you get ME!

Today’s theme song: Natural Woman http://tinysong.com/7ihx

There and Back Again

By Sarah Robinson

Wow. Here we are at Day 30 of 30 Days to Creating Irresistible Presence.

And what a journey the past 30 Days have been. Different for each of us but powerful just the same.

As a quick refresher, take a look back at Day 1. Some of you were here, some of you weren’t – and that is ok. But I want you to scroll through the comments to get an idea of where this all began.

To me it seems like a lifetime ago. (More about that in just a minute.)

First I want to tell you something about you.

Watching all of you over the past 30 days has been nothing short of astonishing.

I have intentionally stayed in the background of the conversations you were having because I never want the tribe to be dependent on me. And boy did you all rise to the challenge.

Such magical shifts, conversations and relationships have unfolded here – such a joy to watch.

As happened with 30 Days to Changing Your Game back in February, I am hoping that the relationships that many of you began here will continue long after this series is over.

And now I want to share with you a little bit about what the past 30 Days have been like for me. While I’ve been keeping with the blog posts, your comments and your journeys, I’ve been on my own journey – a physical, spiritual and emotional journey – with my family.

When you read this I will be somewhere over Iceland I think, returning from Russia with my husband beside me and our new fifteen month old son on my lap.

It will be the final leg of our second trip to Russia in three weeks; the third in six months.

While there are a handful of people who’ve known we are adopting, for the most part I’ve kept it very private. It is the biggest and most difficult secret I’ve ever kept from the Tribe.

My reasons for choosing this path are twofold:

The very practical facts are 1) there are about 1 billion points of failure with an adoption and 2) the Russian government isn’t exactly wild about public discussion of an incomplete adoption.

But there is more to it than that. And I think it really speaks to this whole idea of Creating Irresistible Presence.

I needed private, internal gestation time. Time when the idea of becoming a mom again was just for me and my family.

See, creating something real and true and irresistible, whether a business idea or a family, begins with a tiny thought or idea that needs shelter and protection so that it can incubate fully. Then when the time is right, it’s strong enough to reveal to the world.

And I’m betting that this 30 Day series has sparked an idea or two within many of you – yes?

Protect and nurture those ideas. Share them with trusted friends, supporters and mentors.  Give them time and space to grow. You need that time to cocoon up with your ideas so that they can take hold inside of you.

(And don’t be disappointed if not all of them do that – that’s just part of the process.)

Ah – but the one that does take hold – THAT’s the one that needs your attention and your love to grow into something strong and sustainable.

Give it all you have. Then one day very soon, you will announce it’s arrival to the world.

Now, as we close out 30 Days to Creating Irresistible Presence, I would love to know your biggest takeaway from this journey.  I never stop learning from you and am fascinated by all that you share.

It might be a favorite post, an ah-ha, a friendship, a comment, a business/life opportunity – or even one of the songs (you get brownie point for saying one of the songs – just so you know!).

So re-visit the person you were thirty days ago and share a little about who you are now.

While you are busy writing your usual brilliant comments, I plan on cuddling up with my biggest takeaway as we make the journey home. J

It was such a lovely experience and community! Congrats on the new baby Sarah… how lucky they get to have you as their Mom..

I’m so, so happy for you and your family (and glad I can say it publicly now)! Soak up every moment!

Congratulations Sarah!!! So thrilled for you and your family. Looking forward to hearing more when you return.

I have been relatively absent from the CIP comments but have devoured each and every post while cocooning and nurturing a lot of stuff since March. I’ve had some major breakthroughs over the past month and will be very excited to release whatever it is I have to the universe. I am super excited to be attending CIP in Atlanta and look forward to meeting not only Sarah and her fabulous panel, but many of you here who really blew me away with your insights and growth.

I think we need a toast! Cheers!

YAY! I can’t WAIT to meet you in Atlanta!! :-)

Congrats SR, I’m so happy for you & your growing family! :-)

That is Awesome news! Congratulations Sarah. I hope you are enjoying your time with your family. I can only imagine how difficult it was not to share it with others. You have touched the lives of so many in a positive way. Your son is very fortunate to have such a loving, giving mom and dad. May peace and love fill your family Sarah. With love and admiration, R

Congratulations! It’s kind of funny because on one of your videos from a couple of months ago, when you said you were working on something in your personal life I had a feeling that you were talking about adoption. Maybe it was that you had that glow or the look that I’ve seen from friends that have adopted.

I think it’s important to keep certain things person … even if you’re living a transparent life. There are certain things that are sacred and need to be nurtured in a quiet environment that sometimes the noise of the Internet doesn’t allow. And, you’re right. The Russian government probably wouldn’t have enjoyed you talking about the process online.

Congratulations! I will think very good thoughts as you bring your new lovely home that things will go smoothly, that the Young Turk will enjoy the experience of a new sibling and that you will enjoy the blessings of being a larger family. :)

  • http://www.care2.com/causes/trailblazers/ Sue Anne Reed

Oh, one more thing. I really have to thank you for both this series and the one earlier in the year. While I haven’t been as active in reading / commenting on this series, I’m hoping to go back and read the posts in August. Your series earlier this year really helped me grow and learn some things about myself that really guided how I proceeded in my job search. July was a month of transitions as I left my old job, moved new apartments and started my new job. Looking forward to August and some “getting settled” time.

    • http://twitter.com/lazarus2000 Lazarus

Hey Sue, Congrats on the big changes too! Those sound like some amazing new adventures all at once.

  • Jesse Michelsen

Well that is a surprise! Congrats on the new member of the family.

When I joined this series, I really had no idea what it was about. I didn’t know what to expect and just went with the flow. It’s been an amazing journey and I had to take a break from getting into the discussions in the later posts because I was busy integrating what I learned into my life. I’ve learned so much about my self through all of this and my career , although in a very early stage has taken off this 30 days. I owe a lot of thanks for that success to this, to you for starting it and to your amazing list of authors during the 30 days. You have my loyalty as a new member of the tribe, Chief.

    • http://www.accessabundance.com/ Teresa Romain

What you wrote here is so COOL, Jesse… “I had to take a break from getting into the discussions in the later posts because I was busy integrating what I learned into my life. ”

I need to remember that… I can and need to take a break from the discussions or learning more or reading more or participating more so that I can integrate…

      Thanks for sharing that!

      • http://twitter.com/lazarus2000 Lazarus

I have the same problem sometimes. Im such an information junkie (I know thats a terrible term, but I swear its like crack sometimes!) and Im always wanting to learn more and more stuff that sometimes I dont take time to actually USE all the stuff that I learn and read.

Jesse has a good reminder for me that it needs to be more 50% Information and 50% Integration and not 99%/1%.

  • Rebeccarquinn

How exciting!! Congratulations to you and your husband on your new son!

Still working on the 30 Days – I’ve read them all and have yet to comment. I did get a couple of huge insights that I’m working into my business and life as we speak :)

  • http://sallyg.me Sally G.

Sarah!! Knowing that you are somewhere over Iceland as I type this, I’m REALLY hoping you have a window seat – because I’m heading out to my front lawn to jump up and down, screaming like a maniac, waving my hands frantically, in hopes you can see just how excited I am for you!! (Your plane will fly over Canada, won’t it?)

I’m also going to quickly rearrange my garden into the shape of a brilliantly beautiful Thumbs Up.

No worries if you somehow miss this excited tribute in your honour ~ the neighbours are quite used to spontaneous bursts of bizarre behaviour from me. They’ll likely attribute it to either too much time in the sun – or me trying to initiate contact with my home planet again.

Your news is fantastic – and not all that surprising, considering your infinite capacity to share love, guidance and support. Many blessings to your entire family.

Like others have stated before me, I did not get to actively participate in this series as I’d have liked. The timing was not great for me. When I did make it to the Community, the energy was charged with support, information and compassion ~ it was always such a treat to be here.

A shout out to Andrea J Lee ~ I’ve loved her since first ‘meeting’ her earlier this year … her insight, intelligence and free sharing of valuable information never ceases to amaze me.

I’ve been cocoon goop for awhile now. Pretty sure I’ll transition into the next stage soon. My very best wishes to everyone who participated in this journey. You’re all truly inspiring and awesome.

I live in Canada too…should I go outside and see if I can hear you yelling?? LOL!! Too funny!!!

      • http://sallyg.me Sally G.

Hear me yelling? Good heavens Meg ~ YELL WITH ME!!! Truth is, I’m not as young as I once was … I’m getting hoarse and my arms are hurting. I could use the support! (This may not actually be Irresistible Presence in action – so those of you who are wary, do not try this at home.)

        • http://www.accessabundance.com/ Teresa Romain

You too crack me up! And… just so you know… I think I just heard a strange sound coming across Lake Michigan… could that have been you two hooping and hollering it up! Tell you what… I think I’ll go outside and join you!

I got it… maybe we can get everyone here in the Tribe and CIP to do “the wave” starting in Canada and moving down the East Coast as Sarah flies over! LOL!

          • http://sallyg.me Sally G.

Well, I don’t know about the rest of you – but I’m all waved out. Thank you for spreading the love Teresa!! Good night …

        • http://twitter.com/lazarus2000 Lazarus

Hey, I think i actually heard you two yelling from over here in Hawaii.

Or, it could just be the explanation for all this wind we are having. You know what they say about butterfly wings…

          • http://sallyg.me Sally G.

It is my fondest hope that more than my voice travels to your fine island Lazarus. Thank you for letting us know that we were heard!!

  • http://twitter.com/NatSlavin Nat Slavin

So happy for you and the family, Sarah! Can’t wait to meet the newest addition to the family. We missed you yesterday, but everyone cheered for you in congratulations!!

Congrats Sarah on the little guy….it is an amazing thing you are doing by becoming his parents and I am sure that words will never be enough for him to tell you how much he thanks you. It takes a very strong person to adopt and it show so much of your character.

Thank you for being part of my life the last 30 days…..for you have changed my life in more ways than one :)

  • Anonymous

Congrats Sarah for making your part of the world better and giving someone the chance at a wonderful life. Thanks also for putting this series together. This one has been more emotional for me than the previous 30 days series. I know I have to face some of those emotions and move past them. And I’ve tried to think of an appropriate 80′s tune but I can’t think of one that sums it all up. Safe travels.

Amazing! Hard to believe you’ve been hosting us here- putting on a party and …..all of your other huge adventure at the same time. Much love and gratitude. (I’m so much farther down the road to owning my irrisistableness. :) ))

  • http://blogforprofit.com Grant Griffiths

Congrats to you and your family Sarah!!!

  • http://www.myhomeoffice.org/ Mike Strock

Sarah – I wanted to say congratulations. I don’t know you, was forwarded to your site from @Reese, a rockstar herself, IMO. But my wife and I have adopted four daughters. We also had one failed adoption. So I totally understand you keeping this a secret from your tribe.

Blessings on your family, and good luck with your new family in the future. I’m excited for you.

    • http://twitter.com/lazarus2000 Lazarus

WOW! Four adoptions? Thats seriously awesome to be able to open your home and give them a loving family. Way too cool!

  • http://www.accessabundance.com/ Teresa Romain

Hey Sarah! I have been waiting all day for this post… so that I can celebrate with you here! YAY! YAY! YAY!!! And I’ve been saying prayers all day that the flight will go smoothly and (please God) relatively quietly! :-) Congratulations many times over my friend! Your sonS are incredibly blessed to have you… just as I know you are incredibly blessed to have them.

Like others have said, these 30 days have been different for me than the ones in in January… different and, I think, even more powerful. All really spoke to where I’m at… and what I’m moving toward… but most especially the ones by Andrea, Reese (!!!!!!!!!!), Jen and Michael. And then there was that email you sent me before you left for Russia a few weeks ago that supported me so much to be able to receive even more from this process. :-) Thank you… for who you be, what you have created and your irresistible presence.

I loved what you wrote here today about why you didn’t share your news until now…

“See, creating something real and true and irresistible, whether a business idea or a family, begins with a tiny thought or idea that needs shelter and protection so that it can incubate fully. Then when the time is right, it’s strong enough to reveal to the world. Protect and nurture those ideas. Give them time and space to grow. You need that time to cocoon up with your ideas so that they can take hold inside of you.”

I’ve not done that before… I’ve had ideas and then either shared them or went into action on them prematurely… before they were solid in me and I was solid with them. And so they’ve all withered and died or become only a fraction of what they might have been. And right now I’m sitting with a couple of new ideas that I have been fighting that compulsion to share too quickly… while it feels strange (new habit)… it’s also quite empowering and freeing.

I sure am glad I’ve been able to “play in your sandbox” my friend! :-)

Now… because I just LOVE getting brownie points… my fave songs for these 30 days were (of course) “Simply Irresistible” and “Stand”. :-)

WoW Chief!!! I am totally “blown away” by your JOY-Full news!! I am incredibly happy for YOU, your hubby & the YT!!! Just think, the YT will have a lil’ brother he can show how to create irresistible presence! You never cease to amaze me with your capacity to love, share, care, commit, inspire & unite! The world AND my world is a better place because of YOU.

You and your family took a GIANT leap forward by deciding to adopt this 15 month old child. I am in awe. Not an easy thing to do in Russia. All of you are truly blessed. (((HUGS)))) from me and a HUGE smile :=)

This 30 days was different for me. It added another layer of ideas, thoughts, and implementations to January’s 30 Day journey. Although I did not comment as much, I took more time to read and marinate in the guest posts & comments from the group. And, WOW, what an “irresistible” group you assembled. Heart felt thanks to ALL for sharing your innermost thoughts & feelings in a safe environment.

And, Sarah, your music just #ROCKS, like YOU. Throughout the 30 days, whatever song you posted, I was happy to listen….it’s the DJ in you…awesome talent!!

Like everyone else….I am looking forward to some pics of your son. Bless you, Sarah….you are indeed, an #awesometastic woman.

    love, love, love YOU xoxoxo

I haven’t always gotten the chance to post, but every blog entry has been met with an appetite that reminded me of why I loved going to school. The 30-day journey has given me the a-okay to let myself shine and go after that stuff I consider a dream. Um, it doesn’t have to be a dream…I can do it. So, my path has changed a bit over the last month — I am fearless, I believe. Thank you for sharing.

And, congratulations on your new addition. What a wonderful gift. I wish you all of the best.

Throughout the 30 days, whatever song you posted, I was happy to listen….it's the DJ in you…awesome talent!!

Like everyone else….I am looking forward to some pics of your son. Bless you, Sarah….you are indeed, an #awesometastic woman.

    love, love, love YOU xoxoxo

I can finally say A BIG Congrats Sarah!

Hey Sue, Congrats on the big changes too! Those sound like some amazing new adventures all at once.

Hey, I think i actually heard you two yelling from over here in Hawaii.

Or, it could just be the explanation for all this wind we are having. You know what they say about butterfly wings…

WOW! Four adoptions? Thats seriously awesome to be able to open your home and give them a loving family. Way too cool!

I haven't always gotten the chance to post, but every blog entry has been met with an appetite that reminded me of why I loved going to school. The 30-day journey has given me the a-okay to let myself shine and go after that stuff I consider a dream. Um, it doesn't have to be a dream…I can do it. So, my path has changed a bit over the last month — I am fearless, I believe. Thank you for sharing.

And, congratulations on your new addition. What a wonderful gift. I wish you all of the best.

It is my fondest hope that more than my voice travels to your fine island Lazarus. Thank you for letting us know that we were heard!!

Well, I don't know about the rest of you – but I'm all waved out. Thank you for spreading the love Teresa!! Good night …

First of all, congratulations on your new addition to the family. I hope that everything transitions smoothly and that you are able to enjoy this phase of your life. How exciting!

I met some new folks this time through and experienced more of an affirmation this 30 Days’ exercise. If January was a revelation, this time was confirmation: I can do this. I am capable and I need to JFDI.

Thanks for creating a safe, expansive environment for growth. Very much appreciated.

    My best, M.

I am so, so, so happy for you! I know it has been a long and challenging process so to see it finally come to an end (or a new beginning depending on how you look at it) is fabulous.

As a Dad of a single son I must say I think you are a bit crazy (I am definitely not ready for two yet), but congratulations none the less!

Biggest change for me during these 30 days has been a strengthening of what I talked with you about in Vancouver. I love the idea of Irresistible Presence and think it is a much better approach to business for me than the idea of niching, which has driven me crazy. I believed this in Vancouver, but over the last 30 days I have strengthened my feelings around working with my irresistible presence instead of trying to cram myself into an artificial niche because the experts say I have too.

The last 30 days have also re-energized my desire to write, so once I finally get my blog url out of captivity (the company that I bought the domain through is holding it hostage and not replying to emails) I am going to start writing again. I blogged for over a year and then stopped. Now it has been months with no real desire to write. These last 30 days has brought the writer back out in me so it is time to get started!

I am also happy to have met and typed with so many interesting people in the last 30 days. So many interesting and different perspectives and stories, it has been wonderful.

Congratulations Sarah Robinson! I wish you and your family days that are richly blessed in every way possible.

I have loved this journey so much. Thank you for creating it and for becoming a part of my life. My biggest take away from this for me, is being me at all times, and remembering when I am NOT, which allows me to choose a different path. I have seen great things happen to me as a result of operating from this authenticity, and I am loving it!

Big Congratulatons Sarah and to your entire family! I agree with a few others here, what a lucky little guy to have you for a Mom.

I’m so glad I was involved with a telesummit in April that you were a part of. It led me to your blog and your tribe. The past 30 days have been perfect for me becuase I am just starting my own business and making so many of those important decisions about how to brand myself and my business. What do I want to represent, how do I and what do I want people to think of when they think of me and my business. I have learned that the most important thing I can do is to be my true and genuine self and offer my clients truth, honesty and SIMPLY me! How easy is that?! Thank you to all of your guest contributors, so many good lessons and ideas were shared. I can’t wait to keep in all going in Atlanta and meeting some of the tribe in person!

    Welcome Home!

I thought I had commented on Friday – but no…. I wanted to make sure to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!

and thanks for the 30 days! it has been great :)

Congratulations on the addition to your family!

This has been a great series. You brought together such a great group of guest posters. I definitely need to go back and spend more time working through some of the ideas. In fact, I think I will spend some time doing just that during quiet down time on my lake vacation coming up Friday. Nothing like sitting by water for incubating ideas!

Congrats!!! It’s good to hear there’s life outside the ‘net. I forget that sometimes :)

    Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!
I’m so happy for all of you. What a journey and a joy for you. Welcome baby boy!

And you are so right that tiny beginnings of ideas need nurturing. You know I’m so in love with the notion of Tiny Changes. Thanks for the 30 Days of CIP. I’ve had a wild 30 days myself, so have missed several posts. But the great thing is that we can come back to them. Very grateful for that, for you, and all that you give so generously here.

Hi Sarah and Fellow Tribers, I am commenting a week late–we have been on vacation, but I could not let this event pass without passing along our heartfelt congratulations too. We are adoptive parents of twins, adopted from China at 9 months. That long plane ride back (one of my greatest concerns) passed by smoothly. Other parents though walked the aisle all night/day just like you did. I trust that you are starting to feel a little more normal now. Enjoy these moments; they are so precious and pass so quickly.

    We celebrate with you! Cheers!!
