Your Mission Should You Choose To Accept It

Mission: Escaping Mediocrity

As most of you know, I am in Las Vegas with my own personal mission of escaping mediocrity with my partners in crime, @AllisonNazarian, @ElizabethPW, @CarlaYoung and @LeesaBarnes. It’s going to be EPIC.

While I’m away, I thought it would be fun for you to have a mission, too. :-)

Your Assignment: Creating an escaping-mediocrity adventure of your own. It can be large (like jumping out of an airplane) or it can be small (like making cookies from scratch). The point is to do something – anything- out of the ordinary.

Write about it, or better yet, make a video of it and post it in the comments below (yes you CAN submit video comments, which I think is WAY cool).

Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Welly yippy. It seems that since we picked up and moved the blog, my comment system isn’t working. :-( So, I am going to post two videos below so you can see what the tribe has been up to in creating their own adventures.

The first is from Leigh Caraccioli @fleurdeleigh

And this one is from Kevin Vandever (@kevinvandever)

How cool that you can post video comments on your blog. I’ll definitely do that soon… just didn’t do my hair this morning ;) HA!

One of the things that I am going to do in order to escape mediocrity is to plan a series of surprises for my wife while we are away on our 10th anniversary next weekend. It’s so easy to get caught in the trap of ‘routine’ in your relationship and it’s important to show signs of appreciation every day. My mission is to do something special every day that shows my wife how much I appreciate her.

I know that when my wife is happy, both me and the kids are happy. I don’t want to be just like most couples. I want Angie and I to stand out from the crowd and that is one way that we will escape mediocrity.

Have fun in Vegas ladies. What an awesome group!

So. I finally got around to figuring out my mission.

Yeah, I know it’s late – but I was always a crap student, so I’m handing it in anyways.

Here’s the deal. My blog….well, it sucks. Don’t get me wrong, I love writing for it and I doubt I will ever stop. But I’m sick and tired of doing it for what seems like myself. My viewer patterns are so irregular it hurts, and my comment areas are nonexistent unless I’m giving something away.

Despite better advice, at this point I think grand and undone is going to triumph over small and executable. I need to redesign my blog, in a hurry. But that’s not my mission to escape mediocrity. My mission is to get better at something I have NEVER been good at, which is asking for help.

So please, fellow Hooligans, email me, message me on twitter (@marksherrick), or just yell at your screen in frustration – but I’m looking for any tips, tricks, horror stories or success stories that are out there that could help me, wherever they may come from. If you think it’ll help, it probably will.

Those of you who’re trying to escape mediocrity via helping someone, lets work together, and we can both get our missions done together.
